tapiloop, briefly explained
Your child’s school uses tapiloop, a digital hall pass. When a child leaves the classroom for a moment during a lesson, for example to go to the toilet, they sign out and back in by themselves. The teacher can see who is out of the room without interrupting the lesson.
How it works
- When leaving, the child briefly holds their phone to a sticker next to the door. Without a phone, they take a card, or tap their own picture on the tablet in the classroom.
- They do the same at their destination and again when back in the classroom.
- Going to the toilet is always allowed. Nobody has to give a reason.
What is recorded
- Name or picture symbol, and class
- Where the child is going, for example to the toilet or the school office
- When the child leaves, arrives and is back
- Whether a phone, a card or the tablet was used
- Whether the child tapped “I need help”
What does not exist
- No location tracking. tapiloop only knows which sticker a phone was held to.
- No access to the phone: no photos, chats or contacts.
- No statistics, no grades, no rankings.
- No app, no account and no password for children.
- No advertising and no selling of data.
When it is deleted
Every trip is deleted automatically after 48 hours at the latest. No school can set a longer period.
Who can see it
Only the teachers of your child’s school. Classmates see nothing, and neither do parents. The data is stored in data centres in the European Union.
